Q and A

So a lot of people ask how does this whole thing work? Where should we have our photos done, what should we wear, when do we pay, how do I smile, just about everything. I am always up for questions, but here are a few of the most common questions answered to help you out!

Where should I take my photos at?
This one is more of something you should want. I have many many suggestions but the final place is up to you! The most important thing is for you to be comfortable. We can even do it at your house as long as there is plenty of lighting to make you photos fabulous! This especially is a good suggestion for those with children. The more comfortable the child is to his or her surroundings, the better smiles we get from them. Newborns may be a little different and I always suggest and indoor shoot for them, but they need their home nice and toasty since we shoot them in the best suit they have, their birthday suit =). But really we can go anywhere your heart desires! Here are a few suggestions if you are in the Atchison area:
  • Forest of Friendship / Warnock
  • Jackson Park
  • River Road
  • Sante Fe Depot
  • Benedictine College
And there is always a farm if you have one or know someone with one. I'm also willing to travel as well. St. Joe, Platte City, Kansas City, Leavenworth, St. Joesph, Topeka. You name it and I will be there =).

What should I wear?
A lot of people think that have to match completely for their photos. Now this is always nice when people wear the same thing because it looks uniform, but I want this to be about you. I want you to put in your personality for these because after all you are going to be looking at them for the rest of your lives! Sometimes if each person has a touch of the same color works, or even if everyone wears colors that compliment each other. Don't be afraid to wear something with patterns or bright colors either. I'm all about bringing out your personality and making your photos look like, well, you! As much as I want you to make the photos about you, I suggest to not overdo it at the same time and make sure your outfit is well put together. An example of this is a guy in a polo shirt, khaki pants and then he has tennis shoes on. I don't know about you but that whole picture just doesn't come out right. Also don't over accessorize! Sometimes a little bling goes a long way. And lastly make sure that if you are going casual that your fiance or family are also going casual as well. A girl in a very nice dress would look silly with a guy with jeans and a t-shirt. If you have questions on what to wear or can't decide between a few outfits don't be afraid to ask and bring your selections to your shoot!

How long does the photo session take?
I can do quick little 30 minute sessions that involve only one location. But majority of my sessions last about an hour. Younger children take a little longer and newborns can take up to over 2 hours! I don't worry about time really. I worry more about how good the photos are and that you are getting a good variety. I just let my creativeness take control and when we are done, we will be done. But majority of shoots last around an hour.

How long until I can see my photos?
I generally get so incredibly excited that I go home right away and get to working on the images (yes I am that much of nerd!). But usually within 24 hours you will get to see a preview of your photos and within a week you will either be able to order them on my online gallery or receive your cd if you purchased one of those.

Can I get a proof book?
Yes you can, but these books cost to be printed. If you choose to have a proof book you may get one for $30 and order from there.

How do the payments work for Weddings?
I require a $200 non refundable deposit to hold your wedding day. Your date will not be held until the deposit is received. Once the deposit is paid the rest can be paid in as much as you want and whenever you want as long as it is paid in full on your big day.
